Nothing special, aside from the effects, which are awesome.
The simple plot line wouldn't even lose Team Eng-er-land and it's been done so many times before there's not much that's new. Where it wins though is the imagination it took to build a new planet and species which, coupled with the CGI, make it worth seeing.
However, all in all it's a bit Lord of the Rings meets Transformers meets any bog standard Sci-Fi flick so don't expect too much from the story line. And the Army grunt lines are even more clichéd but so deliciously cheesy they could have come out of Christmas crackers.
Still, it killed off a couple of hours and as the credits rolled we were almost ready to dock.
